What is your intent - to look good or to be an effective fighter? The two aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive. Ideally, a martial artist’s techniques and skills are enthralling to watch and loathsome to encounter. But in self-defense, things can get ugly. In the end, it’s about the practical application, not the pose.
